U.S. culture has definitely suffered great deterioration - most noticeably in the last 8 years but less noticeably even before that with the coming of adulthood of our king - consumerism.
Like the Resident above our need for positive cultural change in the U.S. is one of the main reasons I go with Obama.

Free vs Fair

Recently U.S. people and congress have been told by Bush that a Free Trade Agreement with Colombia is urgent and necessary for Americans. He used usual fear tactics and said that this agreement is necessary for our National Security. Some of the words he used:

“urgent”
“stake on national security is too high”
“stakes are high in South [...]

If one group of people can be violated - any group of people can be violated. It may not happen all at once but we’ll all eventually be there…minorities first as usual. If someone supports mean-spirited behaviors it won’t be long before it comes back to them - in some places of the world this [...]

I have mentioned in previous posts my disagreement with the existence of permanent U.S. military bases around the world. To me these bases speak of silent wars against countries who we have no reason to be at war with. Perhaps this is why our government engages in quiet and private military occupations. So is it [...]

Between our ambition to be the leading producers of food for cars and our ambition to be the owners of all food (for profit), we better brace ourselves and our pockets for some hungry times to come as food becomes less affordable or available.
