Gap girl, Branded People

“I loooove your shoes! Where did you get them?!”
Let’s just put it this way, I really dislike this kind of question - especially if it’s got the sound to it. I like to dress well but not to a senseless ridicoulous point. To me dressing well has nothing to do with ridicoulous prices or expensive brands. I’m definitely not a brand girl. I find it humourous when people think that liking expensive things means having good taste! If anything I think it means being too manipuable. Anyway, another thing I’ve heard that I find bizarre is “I’m a Gap girl!”…or whatever brand it is they like. Is it just me or is that a fairly degrading thing to say? I’m not sure about you all but these are the first things that come to my mind when I heard that:
- A brand name tattoo or branding
- Cattle branding
- Slaves
Looking at it from that point of view - isn’t it a bit disturbing to give ourselves a brand? Just thinking…
